Symptoms

Corrosion is an electro-chemical process which transforms steel - influenced by oxygen and water - in iron hydroxyde (rust).

Cause

  • Bad pretreatment, e.g. failed to remove mill scale
  • Chemically polluted substrate
  • Insufficient dry layer thickness
  • Insufficient active corrosion resistance of applied products
  • Mechanical damage

Solution

Manual derusting (St 3) or blasting (Sa 2 1/2) in accordance with norm ISO 8501-1:1988. Than apply a fitting rust inhibiting paint system. Prime twice with [Redox EP Metal Primer]. Finish with two-component products: apply two coats of [Redox PUR Finish Gloss].
