Sikkens has an eye for national heritage. For a long time we have been the ideal quality-partner for the restoration and protection of historic buildings This time the Castle of Vien near Liege was finished by Top Decor with our silicon based lacquer Rubbol Gold.
Jacques de Beghein, at that time bishop of Liege, built the neo-classicist Castle of Vien in 1770. After being purchased by the lawyer Henri-Louis de Rolly in 1811, the building got a thorough face-lift in the second half of the nineteenth century. The bows were heightened, additional buildings created and in 1868 the circular salon received an artistic touch by the hand of the Liege artist Paul Joseph Carpay.
Next to the impressive architecture, the surrounding grounds have equal splendor with a pond, specific lawns and flowerbeds being added over the years.
With the unique extra of a beautiful and exclusive yew - and several box trees, in 1989 the castle was rightfully added to a list of protected monuments.
Thanks to the quality of Sikkens lacquers it will be on the list for a long time to come.
